E-learning: Parkour – the art of movement

Parkour is a fascinating, relatively young, urban art form. It was founded by Frenchman David Belle, who wanted to combine elements of gymnastics, martial arts, climbing and athletics in one unique style. At the beginning Parkour was spread mostly by men, but lately you can see a lot of women practicing and combining it with dance.

The main idea behind Parkour is to move through the urban landscape with maximum efficiency. They look like modern Ninjas, raised on asphalt, but confident in their skills based on body & mind principles. Parkour could be dangerous for beginners. Therefore, you should practice it with an experienced trainer. The basic movements are throws, borrowed from Judo and Aikido, and precise jump. The rest is physical preparation, focused and calm mind; and all that mixed with above mentioned sports at the end.
