Body cinema: On Tadeusz Kantor

I don’t think I’m able to speak out how much I admire the work by Tadeusz Kantor, an extraordinary visual artist and theater director.

Luckily enough, I found these days a short documentary on his work, as somewhat small visual introduction to the career of this theater genius. Because he was a sort of precede of performance art, I decided to include him into Body cinema, although his artworkz were of outer limits…

Tadeusz Kantor (1915-1990, Poland) was painter, theatre director, scenographer and assemblage artist. He founded Cricot 2 Theatre in 1955 in Krakow; and today the institution called Cricoteka – Centre for the Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor is taking care on his legacy. They call it “Living Archives”.

His most respected pieces in theatre were Dead Class (1975), Let the Artist Die! (1985), Wielopole, wielopole (1980), You will never return here (1985)…

Kantor influenced visual arts and theatre in enormous way, especially we can talk about his influence on lucid choreographer and performer Josef Nadj

My intention is not to give you here a classic blog post, but to hook you up to this amazing artist… enjoy…

Hi, We found you blog, particularly the mix of performance and
culutre and thought you might be interested in the Headlong
    Performance Institute (HPI)
    [http://www.headlongperformanceinstitute.org/], as something you
might write about or you may know of others who would be interested
in attending. HPI is a pre-professional training program in
Philadelphia and we’re accepting applications for the Fall ’09
semester. Our next application deadline is June 15th and we’ll be
notifying applicants by June 19th. How will you know if the
Headlong Performance Institute is a good fit for you? You don’t
have to be a dancer, an actor or formal artist to enjoy learning
how to push your inner elements. And if you’re not frightened silly
at the prospect of exploring the corners of these very elements,
then this may just be the challenge you’re looking for. Headlong
Performance Institute is where professionals working on the cutting
edge of American experimental theater and dance work with students
in a small group setting to learn about movement, collaborative
creative spaces and how to tune your body and mind to be your most
creative. The program is open to undergrads (for credit, the
semester counts as 300- or 400- level courses through Bryn Mawr
College) and post-bac students and is based in South Philadelphia.
All program expenses (except living expenses) are included in
tuition and include tickets to performances throughout the
semester, throughout the Philadelphia area. For more information
    please visit our website at
http://www.headlongperformanceinstitute.org and get in touch. We
want to hear from you! Sincerely, Rose Luardo
