Another short  film taken from the selection of One Take Film Festival, 2008 edition… I like Portugal… Fado, Porto, Pessoa… the view of Lisbon from an airplane is one of the most striking views I’ve ever saw in my life…

Paolo Abreu is an experimental film maker and, what most people don’t know, he was for years the official videographer for choreographer Vera Mantero from Lisbon… Here is his film ‘Manitas’…


About the film
The story of two incapable pickpockets who are waiting for a new victim was made by a hand operated camera.

Paulo Abreu was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1964. He studied at IADE (Instituto de Artes Visuais, Design e Marketing) in Lisbon, and at Film/Video Arts in New York. He filmed many short films, documentaries, feature and fiction films, and music videos. He is the author of videos made for plays and dance performances. He directed many experimental films done in Super 8 and video format. His films won three awards at international festivals and were screened in many cities in Europe and USA.
