Knitting, embroidery, crocheting and needlepoint in animation and stop motion

Animation, stop motion and computing have a lot of possibilities and techniques for expressing ideas and stories… Following last posts regarding textiles, I simply got an idea to collect few animated and stop motion films which were designed with the help of knitting, crocheting, embroidery and needlepoint…

Retro computer games for corporeality questions – Bong

Following my previous post on freestyle football, check William Linn’s device art work Bong (2009) based on retro computer games and their use in media art, as well as from the corporeality point of view.   The concept is very interesting, especially in the context of comparability with Nintendo Wii Sports and similar iPhone & iPod & iPad applications.

Edita Matan’s interactive gloves

Edita Matan’s project Interactive Gloves has in its focus electronic communication. She sees it as an analogue and digital work that presents two sides of communication: one that is tangible and touchable, and the other part that is ‘the most non-social form – the mathematical, electronic form’.

General Treatment by Tomislav Pokrajcic

Time to move on and finish my covering from Device_art 3.009 with Croatian artists. Excuse me for small delay in my blogging, but last week I had an opportunity to partake on Wearable Technology Workshop led by Abigail Stiers and Alexander Gross in Ljubljana (Slovenia). I just didn’t want to miss this opportunity to learn more on Arduino, soft circuits and electronic textiles. I will blog about it separately during the following weeks…
