Before I’m going to start with individual presentations from this year’s edition of Device_art 3.009, held last month in Zagreb, I owe you few wordz on the concept and origins from the organizers of the festival, Kontejner – bureau of contemporary art praxis.

I wanted to post this on my blog for a long time… Tashamira was a Croatian dancer and choreographer whose real name was Vera Milcinovic. When I first time saw her photos from 1930’s at the exhibition ‘Avant Garde Tendencies in Croatian Art’ few years ago, I was completely thrilled…
First, her name sounds even today very hype and cool… But Tashamira’s ‘image’ was crucial, just take a look at her costume and hair cut… She was also one of those faces that were far ahead of their time…

OK! You definitely need a small break from serious themes on this blog. Very recent Croatian Design Society got its space for administration and a small gallery. Two days ago this gallery opened their first exhibition – promotion called Sherriff & Startas & Friends.
The exhibition is devoted to legendary ‘socialistic’ sneakers, Startas. These were ‘our’ version of Chuck Taylor All-Star, minimalist canvas sneakers, now redesigned by Mauro Massaroto.
